Chiltern Harriers U17 athletes Lily Holt and Millie Hughes both scaled new PB heights at Kingsmeadow Stadium, Kingston in the second round of the YDL.
Lily has been ever so close on several occasions to improving on her seasons best of 1.60m set indoors and her PB of 1.61m set in December. On Sunday she made absolutely no mistake in a competitive High Jump competition. She saw off her nearest rival at 1.63m, which was not only a PB but also the her main objective of the day, equalling the English Schools qualifying standard.
But there was more to come as she proceeded to clock a superb new best of 1.66m, a height greater than she has ever attempted in competition before.
Also in great form was her clubmate and fellow DCHS student Millie Hughes. Competing in her preferred event, the javelin, Millie completely destroyed her previous best for the event.
Having started the season with a PB of 28.13m, she had already improved this to 29,10 metre in the first YDL match at Woking. But was not going to stop there and added a stunning six and half metres to her best launching the 500 gram spear out to 35,71m.
Both girls also added to their teams points totals with Lily in action in the 80m Hurdles and Long Jump while Millie completed her hat-trick of events in the Hammer and Shot.
